From Penny Police comes Marie Fjeldsted

Marie Fjeldsted drops her alias Penny Police and releases her first single in her own name. Bad As You is a strong and simple song about daring to exist in the world on your own terms.

The sensitive presence and the constant search for calm reside in all of Marie’s releases. The album ‘Be Lucky’ from 2019 received an incredible amount of acclaim and praise. One reviewer noticed a feeling that “‘Be Lucky’ is both a breakthrough and an intermediate state, like a passing, for a musician who may not only have taken an important step forward, but also is right in the middle of a crucial transformation”
(Kim Skotte, Politiken).

A transformation was in fact happening and the pandemic years pushed the process forward. The lockdown gave Marie a much needed and natural safe space at home. Along with her partner in crime Linus Klestrup she turned the bedroom into a studio, and in that space she has created a room for herself and fostered a simpler expression.

”I have never felt like a persona which is why it feels natural to let go of Penny Police now. I have reclaimed the music and brought it home, both literally to my bedroom but also in the way I create and express myself as I have made it completely outside of others opinions and expectations”, Marie says.

Bad As You is a reminder to us all that we bring more than we show. We are all together in the search for comfort and acceptance which contains all that we are.


”Bad As You is not a sad song. It’s a song that embraces an everyday feeling of being in a state of constantly observing things from the outside and feeling a little off. Nothing is really wrong but yet you constantly keep on searching. It creates a sense of turmoil, but also a development and it can be a challenge to find the right balance between the two.”

I feel like a back drop
all I can think of is when to sleep
before I even wake up
I really don’t know why I get so nervous in the evening
everytime my phone rings
