1.
My dear boy, I'll be right there I just need a minute, a minute to grasp (hearts to feed, broken dreams) I try to wrap my head around this change I'm here and I'm breathing, guess that's what it takes Try to let it in, try to let out, try Try to keep it alive Try to let it in, try to let out, try I'm gonna pour from an empty cup Bend and I'll stretch till it's still not enough (hearts to feed, broken dreams, hearts to feed, broken dreams)
2.
Underneath a heavy chest a heart is pumping blood easily keeping us alive I’m sure everything’s gonna be alright Got to feel Gotta feel something Got to love Gotta love someone Could it be that somewhere in-between a broken wing, a broken dream, there’s light Keeping us alive I’m sure everything’s gonna be alright
3.
Could someone tell me what is wrong What’s on your mind when looking off Forever, ever in-between What should I aim for; your head or my body? I’ve never lost, I’ve never won I’ve never lost, I’ve never won I’ve been waiting for the break of dawn Waiting for too long We could take it back and try some more Trying not to fall Been searching wildly, the sound is on What am I really dreaming of? Tell me who you really love What’s on your mind when looking off Tell me cuz I’m in-between Your head or my body?
4.
All I can see is your back down the stairs All I can hear is you don’t want me there Uh, I’m coming over Uh, I’m coming over I’m trying to deal with the damage I’ve done When all I can think of is where did it go wrong Uh, I’m coming over You’ve said it before but I need to be sure Uh, I’ll try to stay sober But I’m such a mess when you open the door Uh, you tell me to fuck off You tell me that we can’t even be friends I’m gonna love you anyway You tell me you need to watch out for yourself Laying in bed just trying to get out of it You have to believe, believe me when I say It wasn’t supposed to end this way
5.
The road is straight ahead It’s easy my love There’s nothing in our way It’s on and on Into the string of everything Into the night Into the sea of serenity Together we’re a king and a queen An open chest, that’s all It’s easy my love The smell of gasoline It’s more than a dream Uh, let heal what is hurt Uh, let heal what is hurt
6.
Occasionally 03:13
Occasionally I'm waking up peacefully It's okay My body is shifting shape Keep my head above water Leave the bed again and again I will cry for a while (in time we're gonna be fine) It's okay, I'm alright (sun will follow rain) Stretching my feet It feels so differently So much space I won't be afraid when drifting away Occasionally I'm waking up peacefully It's okay I'm breathing to the rhythm of you
7.
Bad As You 03:40
While I was falling into the wild I forgot to swim What do I believe in? Too many footprints I take it all in, sinking deep Tuck me in like a child now Got no reason to cry Still my river’s dry Have you seen the sky is blue? Can you feel the heartbeat in you? Do you know you’re not alone? I’m as bad as you You’re as good as me I feel like a backdrop All I can think of is when to sleep before I even wake up I really don’t know why I get so nervous in the evening, everytime my phone rings
8.
Sad Eye 03:42
Body of mine A deep breath, a dry mouth Mambo and jive It’s always a bad time Unwarned, you spill it out A waterfall, you fall and fall I fall out of sleep Don’t go hard on me I fall out of my daily routines Sad eye, shouldn’t be waiting Rainy sky, shouldn’t be waiting The laugh of a child I spy with my little eye A dreamer still dreaming I’ll join the flip side Sad eye, shouldn’t be waiting Rainy sky, shouldn’t be waiting I feel like running wild I feel it my oh my Sad eye, shouldn’t be waiting Rainy sky, shouldn’t be waiting I feel deep and wild Deep and wild Deep and wild
9.
Numbers are being called I’m standing in line Quietly burning out in front of you Trying to get myself through Everyone at work Understaffed and hurt Everyone at work Understaffed and hurt What do they get, What do they get in return? One, two keep counting to ten But I’m just not alright Seem to forget I’ve been here before Pushed to the edge, then pushed some more
10.
Wake Me Up 03:15
Wake me up for the first time Wake me up Make a dreamer dream Wake me up for the first time Wake me up Make a heart beat Can anyone love me? Can anyone love me? Can anyone love me? Anyone? Wake me up for the first time Wake me up Make a doubter believe Wake me up for the first time Wake me up Make a listener speak

about

Marie Fjeldsted is breathing easy again on new album
While the years of lockdowns were captivating for some, they created a completely new sanctuary for Marie Fjeldsted. The new album ‘Keep It Alive’ is Marie's first without her alias Penny Police. It is an album that comes from within a personally liberated creative space. Where security in the introverted has created space for the extroverted, and where there were no longer any reason to push a persona in front of oneself.

"While Penny Police’ music was always pure and intimate, Marie Fjeldsted’s compositions
touch the heart and soul even more."
- Good Because Danish on ‘Occasionally’

In 2022, Marie released the first single ‘Bad as You’ from the upcoming album – the first single without the alias Penny Police, which has otherwise ensured her great recognition both at home and abroad. A brave choice and an artistic transformation, in which she stepped forward with a more immediate and outgoing expression.

"There’s something about it that is just so perfect and refreshing, making it a perfect addition to an playlist and an instant must-listen gem. So listen closely and let your imagination run wild and free for this song is bound to be a fan favorite."
– Wolf in a Suit on ‘Never Lost, Never Won’

As an introverted being, the isolation of the corona era became a time and place without social obligations and thus a natural safe space far from the expectations and attitudes of others.

"I've never felt like a persona, so it feels like the right time to drop the Penny Police name. I have taken the music home - both litterally home in my bedroom, but also in expression, because I have created it in a time and in a space that felt like a liberating bubble far away from external influences", says Marie.

Together with her partner Linus Valdemar, she turned the bedroom into a recording studio, and in that room she has created space for herself and a completely new process. Here the road from idea to recording is short, and everything can be tested immediately.

"When we started, we didn't know it would become an album. We just didn't have enough space in the apartment for each of our music projects, so we started trying things out together. At the same time, we had just become parents for the second time, and if you know, you can hear that some of the vocals were recorded with our nursing son on the arm. So what really started out of necessity has ended up being recordings we have kept, and an album I am enormously proud of.”

”My God we have become really good at producing music in Denmark.
This is another song and production with international potential.”

– Mikael Simpson, DR P6 Beat on ‘Never Lost, Never Won’

The singles released ahead of the album release – ‘Bad as You’, ‘Occasionally’, ‘Keep it Alive’, ‘Never Lost, Never Won’ and ‘Got to Love’ - feat. Christian Hjelm (March 17, 2023) – have all received praise and critical acclaim in music media, on blogs and on the airwaves. ‘Occasionally’ was in rotation on P6 Beat, as was ‘Never Lost, Never Won’, which was also Hit of the Week on DR P4 the week it was released and his since gone on to become the most played song on Danish Radio P6 Beat.

The singles each tell a different part of the album's story. A story about finding peace and security in the basic conditions of life and from there moving into life with a focus on the power you have, and a belief in the positive.

‘Let Heal What Is Hurt’, the album's focus track, encapsulates that very intention. A song about letting go, going on an adventure and deciding to focus on the good.

"Keep It Alive is a tribute to life, but also to just being. We don't always have to be moving forward. It can be quite tiring to constantly deal with whether things are going well or badly. I am reassured by remembering that I am just a small piece in this world. I have days when the house of cards falls apart, but then I try to remember that basically I just to keep on breathing. Life goes on and we are not masters of it. I think that is great and liberating to think about", says Marie.

In Politiken's review of Penny Police’s last album ‘Be Lucky’, Kim Skotte wrote, "that 'Be Lucky' is both a new break and a makeover for a musician who may not only have taken an important new step, but may quite be in the center of a decisive transformation”.

A premonition that turned out to be true. Marie Fjeldsted - who from the first time she entered it, has stood as a distinct voice on the Danish music scene - is now appearing under her own name with the album ‘Keep It Alive’ which will be released May 26 on Celebration Records.
